Honouring the Land and Its First Peoples

We are grateful to live and work in a community located on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Indigenous Nations who have stewarded these lands and waters for countless generations.

The summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day are closely connected to the land, nature and celestial cycles. Indigenous cultures hold deep and enduring relationships with the natural world, and these occasions offer an opportunity to learn, reflect and celebrate.

Thinking Local First means supporting and celebrating the people who make our region what it is. We recognize the important role Indigenous organizations, businesses and entrepreneurs play in our local community.
