About Carlene
Carlene Thompson is the Executive Director of Greater Victoria Lifetime Networks Society, where she is dedicated to creating meaningful connections and inclusive opportunities for people with developmental disabilities throughout Greater Victoria. Since joining the organization, Carlene has continued Lifetime Networks’ mission of building lasting relationships, fostering belonging, and empowering individuals to live full and connected lives within their communities.
Founded in 1998 by five local families, Lifetime Networks was created to ensure people with developmental disabilities would always have meaningful friendships and support systems. Under Carlene’s leadership, the organization continues to build Personal Support Networks while offering a wide range of programs that promote community inclusion, lifelong learning, employment, creativity, and social connection in a welcoming environment where everyone belongs.
Leading the Community
For Carlene, building a stronger community begins with creating meaningful relationships and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to belong. Through Lifetime Networks, she is passionate about fostering inclusive communities where people of all abilities are valued, supported, and connected through genuine friendships and shared experiences.
By partnering with families, volunteers, businesses, and community organizations, Carlene continues to strengthen Greater Victoria through collaboration, compassion, and advocacy. Her commitment to inclusion reflects the belief that vibrant communities are built when everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
